Effectiveness of Health Promotion on Knowledge of Women Childbearing Age About Urinary Tract Infection

Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection is microorganisms invasion in the urinary tract, it can cause inflammation and kidney damage complications. To increase knowledge about urinary tract infection prevention behavior, health promotion needs to be given. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health promotion on knowledge of women childbearing age about urinary tract infection. This study use quantitative research methods with one group pre and post-test design using leaflet. Sample on this study are 106 women childbearing age with non probability. The data collection tool used questionnaire about knowledge with cronbach’s alpha 0.849. The results of univariate analysis, majority of respondents aged 36-49 years (60.4%), high school education level (70.8%), never had urinary tract infection history (84.9%), good pre and post-test knowledge (47.2%; 85.8%). Bivariate analysis results with Kendall's Tau B test there is no relationship between age with knowledge (p-value = 0.778), the result with Kendall's Tau C test there is no relationship between education level with knowledge (p-value = 0.702), the result with Cramer's V test there is no relationship between urinary tract infection history with knowledge (p-value = 0.078). Wilcoxon test analysis results showed an differences in knowledge after health promotion (p-value = 0,000). Health promotion as a way to increase knowledge.
