Potential of Nursing Education Towards 0f Wellness Tourism Development in Bali
Abstract
Wellness tourism development in Bali have an impact to the health sector and nursing services. Nursing education as an important component to produce professional nurses has not been able to take advantage of these opportunities properly. The aim of this study was exsplore the potential of nursing education to the wellness tourism development services in Bali. The design of this research was descriptive study with Mix method Approach.. The method of data collection was used questionnaire to the 60 foreigner tourists by purposive sampling technique in Ubud Sari Health Resort, Bagus Jati Health & Wellbeing Retreat Tegallalang Gianyar. Interview technique was used to the three participants from wellness tourism services and two participants from the institution of nursing education. Then the data was presented in the form of frequency distribution and SWOT analysis. The results of this research showed that the most of foreign tourists were satisfied with wellness tourism activities in Bali such as : physical and psychosocial therapy, hospitality, mind mental activity, health nutrition, physical body fitness and relaxation or meditation. The existence of wellness tourism is an opportunity and strength to add competitiveness to the Nursing Education in Bali. The development of local content in nursing education curriculum can not be explored yet to the fullest in accordance with the tourism industry development in Bali.Nursing education has great potential as an important component of the tourism development in Bali, therefore the institution of nursing education sould be produce of nursing graduates who have an exlellent competention based on local wisdom and can be globally competitive.
