Spiritual Well-Being Associated with Type II Diabetes Mellitus Anxiety
Abstract
The main problem with type II diabetes mellitus is insulin resistance. Where the factors that can increase blood glucose in diabetes mellitus are anxiety. This study aims to determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and anxiety of type II DM patients. This research is a descriptive analytic study with a cross sectional approach which will be conducted in the working area of the Lubuk Buaya Community Health Center, Sand Nan Tigo Village. The population in this study amounted to 30 people with a sample size of 30 respondents who fit the research criteria, with a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out face-to-face to patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus by visiting the respondent's house while maintaining health protocols. The data were collected by means of a questionnaire and processed computerized using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of the study of 30 respondents, 14 (46.7%) respondents had poor spiritual well-being and 16 (53.3%) respondents had good spiritual well-being. And of the 30 respondents, 3 (10%) respondents had severe anxiety, there were 9 (30%) respondents had mild anxiety, 12 (40%) respondents had moderate anxiety, there were 6 (20%) respondents did not have symptoms of anxiety. The results showed that there was a relationship between spiritual well-being and anxiety in patients with type II diabetes mellitus. The better the spiritual well-being, the less anxiety felt by DM patients
