The Relationship Between Nurse Motivation and Physical Workload to Improving Quality of Service at Puskesmas

Abstract

Puskesmas as the first level health service center are required to be able to provide quality, fair and affordable health services. The improvement of quality health services is to establish good relationships with patients so that patients remain loyal to the Puskesmas. Nurses are one of the largest health service teams who are required to improve the quality of service in the health service unit. One of the factors that influence the quality of nurse services is an internal factor, namely motivation. The higher a person's motivation, the stronger the urge to work harder so that it can improve the quality of service. In addition to internal factors, the performance of nurses is also influenced by external factors, including the physical workload factor of nurses, the more workload will affect the quality of services provided at the Puskesmas. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between motivation and physical workload of nurses on the quality of service quality at the Puskesmas, which is a health service unit. Methodology This research is a descriptive correlation study with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples in this study were 35 nurses who worked at the Long Ikis Community Health Center with a distribution of 19 nurses in the Main Health Center and 16 nurses in 14 Puskesmas Paser Village. Bivariate test for motivation and workload of nurses using the Gamma Correlation Test. The conclusion of this study is that there is no relationship between the motivation of nurses and the quality of service with P = 0.007 <0.05 and there is a significant relationship between the workload of nurses and the quality of service at Long Ikis Public Health Center, Paser Regency, East Kalimantan with P = 0.457> 0.05.
