The Effectiveness of Clay Therapy and Bibliotherapy on the Anxiety of Children
Abstract
Hospitalization is often perceived by preschoolers as a punishment so that children will feel ashamed, guilty or afraid. A child's fear of injury arises because the child considers his actions and procedures to threaten the integrity of his body. Clay therapy is a kind of waxy material that is soft and easy to shape. Bibliotherapy is a therapy performed on children undergoing hospitalization, where this method can reduce conflict and anxiety experienced by children. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of clay therapy and Bibliotherapy on the anxiety of children undergoing hospitalization. This study used a quasy experimental design by applying the Clay Therapy and Bibliotherapy methods to the intervention group in pre-school age children with 30 respondents. Anxiety was measured before and after taking the action using the TCMAS test and then analyzed by using the dependent sample t-test. (Paired t-test) with α (error rate) 5%. The results of this study show that the results of the Paired t-test with p value = 0.009 <α = 0.05 (5%) with a tcount of 3.006, then H0 is rejected so statistically it can be concluded that play therapy is effective in reducing anxiety due to hospitalization in pre-age children. school (3-6 years) in the child care room of the Amahai Community Health Center, Central Maluku Regency.
