Relationship of Level of Knip Complications Knowledge with Complications Prevention Measures

Abstract

Hypertension is a cardiovascular disease which is the main cause of mortality in the world and is a risk of heart attack, stroke and heart failure. Complications of hypertension can be very dangerous because they are not accompanied by any symptoms, so there is a need for knowledge of hypertension sufferers to prevent complications. This study used a cross sectional method with a total sample of 71 people. The sampling technique uses consecutive sampling. Data analysis using chi square test. The results obtained an average age of respondents 57.8 years, the majority of female sex 50.7%, the last education elementary / equivalent 56.3%, 38.0% of self-employed, suffer from hypertension for an average of 3 years, comorbidity diabetes mellitus was 62.0%, low knowledge level 73.2% and bad prevention measures 64.8%. There was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of hypertension complications and prevention of hypertension complications (p = 0.0001).
