Abstract

The efforts to prevent complications that may occur during labor is by screening as early as possible for pregnant women in health care centers. This review was conducted to analyze screening and causative factors for gestational diabetes mellitus in developing countries through a systematic literature review. This systematic literature review uses a scoping review through the PubMed database with a total of 577 articles in 2014-2018 and reviewed with inclusion criteria into 8 articles analyzed by the Skill Appraisal Skill Program (SASP). Factors affecting gestational diabetes mellitus viz. age, family history of diabetes mellitus, body mass index (BMI), and blood sugar levels in pregnant women. Age, family history of diabetes mellitus, body mass index (BMI), and blood sugar levels of pregnant women influence the incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus so that screening done earlier for pregnant women can be one way to improve the health services of pregnant women and as a preventative complication in pregnancy.
