Abstract

Giving MP-ASI too early will make the baby consider the food as a substitute for breast milk. This will make the baby reluctant to breastfeed again so that the nutritional intake is lower, vulnerable to illness and increase the risk of pregnant women again. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of knowledge with the provision of Early Childhood Breastfeeding in Ghisikdrono Village, Semarang. This type of research is a descriptive correlative design with a cross sectional design. The population was 81 mothers who had babies <6 months of age. The sample in this study was 78 mothers with accidental sampling technique, for measuring knowledge and giving MP-ASI early using questionnaires and analysis using chi square with α = 0.05%. The results of this study indicate the value of p-value ≤ 0.05 p-value = 0.020. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and the provision of early breastfeeding for mothers with infants aged 0-6 months in the village of Ghisikdrono, Semarang. Parents who have good knowledge about the importance of breastfeeding, will only give milk until the baby is six months old, if the mother's knowledge is low, it will provide MP-ASI before the age of six months, and assume that the baby feels full.
