Relationship of Maternal's Attitude in Giving Zinc to Children with Diarrhoea

Abstract

Infectious diseases, one of which is diarrhea is the biggest cause of death in children under five years and the death of around 525,000 children every year. In the case of a decrease in the incidence and complications that need to be done. Management of diarrhea through the environment and environmental health. Supplementation of Zn-related supplements provides benefits against various diseases such as diarrhea, leprosy, tuberculosis and the common cold. The purpose of this study was to study the relationship between maternal attitudes in the provision of zinc in infants who need diarrhea in Mandalle Health Center, Pangkep Regency. This research uses descriptive analytic research method with corss sectional study. Sampling using purposive sampling with a sample size of 35 mothers. Data collection using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that respondents who had a positive attitude collected 22 respondents (62,9%), of which 19 respondents (54,3%) were good at providing zinc to toddlers and 3 respondents (8,6%) were lacking in giving zinc in toddlers. While respondents who had negative attitudes were 13 respondents (37,1%), while there were 5 respondents (14,3%) who were good at giving zinc to toddlers and 8 respondents (22.9%) were lacking in giving zinc to toddlers. Statistical test results with Chi-square obtained value ρ=0,007. The conclusion in this study is that there is a relationship between maternal attitudes in the provision of zinc in infants who need diarrhea in Mandalle Health Center, Pangkep Regency.
