The Cadres Understanding in the Implementation of a Self Reporting Questionnaire Concerning Mental Health Status
Abstract
Efforts to build a culture of early detection of people with mental disorders require commitment that is influenced by the ability of cadres. This pre-experimental study was to determine the effectiveness of early detection training on cadres understanding in applying a self reporting questionnaire about mental health status. The population and sample of this study were 45 people in Kupang city who were willing to become volunteer cadres involved in training during the COVID-19 pandemic. By using a simple random sampling, the respondents were selected based on the area within Kupang city which represents the city. The data were collected using a check-list sheet. The ability to do an early detection, was then analyzed the bivariate pre and post test using a chi-square test. The research was conducted in Sikumana village, Maulafa sub-district, Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara province in September 2020. Research Result From 45 cadres in Kupang city, East Nusa Tenggara showed significant effectiveness from the cadres’ understanding before and after receiving training (p = 0.000, α=0,05). Early detection training was effective in increasing the uderstanding of cadres in applying the self- reporting questionaire for mental health status.
