Health Education Reducing Anxiety in Patients Who will Undergoing Cardiac Catheterization
Abstract
Coronary artery disease is a disease that occurs because of stenosis in coronary arteries of the heart, further examination is needed is an invasive examination of cardiac catheterization. The implementation of invasive cardiac catheterization acts to cause anxiety in patients, which will affect the process of these intervention. The purpose of this study was to know the effect of education on anxiety patients undergoing catheterization at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital in Riau province. The research design was pre-experimental approach one group pre test - post test. Before and after the intervention, anxiety was measured using DASS. The intervention was given in the form of providing health education regarding cardiac catheterization procedures using leaflets and video media for 10-15 minutes. Samples in the study amounted to 27 patients who will undergo cardiac catheterization for the first time, used accidental sampling. Based on the statistical paired t test, the p value of 0.001 (< than a) was obtained so that it was concluded that there was a significant influence in providing education on patient anxiety by cardiac catheterization at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital in Riau Province. Recommendations for further research in order to provide other interventions related to increasing knowledge and reducing anxiety in patients who will undergoing cardiac catheterization.
