Health Education Improve Knowledge and First Aid Attitude in Accidents
Abstract
Accidents may cause someone to be physically and mentally disturbed and may sometimes endanger life. First aid for accidents at schools indeed affects the safety of the students. Health education concerning first aid is needed to improve students knowledge and attitude. To find out the effects of health education on level of knowledge and attitude towards first aid at Public Senior High School 2, Ngaglik, Sleman. This was a quasi-experimental research with a pretest and posttest but without control group. A total sampling technique was used to obtain samples of as many as 43 respondents using questionnairest. The data was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The majority of the respondents (76,7%) were 17 years old, and most of them (51,2%) were male. The majority of the respondents knowledge level in the pretest was in the medium category (55,8%), and in the posttest was in the good category (95,3%). As for the attitude, most of them (53,5%) were in the medium category in the pretest and in the posttest were in the good category (93,0%). The bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test indicated that the knowledge level showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and the attitude also showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). There was an effect of health education on level of knowledge and attitude towards first aid at Public Senior High School 2, Ngaglik, Sleman.
